Q. Why do I need this addon?
The rtMedia Docs and Other files plugin is perfect for websites that rely on user-uploaded content.
Combined with rtMedia’s user networking capabilities, this plugin allows you to create a powerful platform for sharing files of any type, be it documents, archives, executable or even custom file types.
This plugin can be used on school & college student network sites, enthusiast’s forums, blogs and intranets.

These locations are in addition to the default WordPress upload locations like Posts, Pages and backend Media tab.
Q. Which file types can I upload?
This plugin supports virtually any file type, including custom ones. You can allow users to upload common document types by enabling the Types > Document setting. This will allow the following to be uploaded- txt, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, ppt, pptx, pdf, xps, pages.
If you would like to upload any other file type, you can do so by enabling the Types > Other setting, and entering the file extension the File Extensions drop down. Multiple file types need to be separated by a comma.
Q. Can I upload file types not supported by WordPress?
Yes, you can enable support for file types not supported by WordPress. Adding a file extension to Other > File Extensions will create a custom MIME type.
Some files can be harmful to you or your users- use this functionality at your own risk.
Q. Does the Google document viewer require me or my users to login?
No login is required for either you or your users.
We have integrated the Google document viewer into the plugin, so that your users can view docs, pdf, excel and other office documents without leaving your site. Additionally, when opened with the Google document viewer, all docs can be viewed in a new tab with “Pop-out” support.
